These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the SaveMyTools mobile application (“SaveMyTools” or “the App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App.


1. What SaveMyTools Does

SaveMyTools helps tradespeople record tools and related information, including photos, receipts, serial numbers and identifying marks, and generate PDF exports (including evidence packs that may be shared with an insurer).

SaveMyTools is not an insurance product. The App does not provide insurance advice, does not act as an insurance broker, and does not guarantee the success of any insurance claim. The information you record is your responsibility. Claim decisions are made solely by your insurer.


2. Your Data Stays on Your Device (Offline)

SaveMyTools is designed to work without accounts and without cloud sync. Your data is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to any server or cloud service by the App.

Encrypted database (what is encrypted):
Your tool inventory database is encrypted on your device.

Photos and exported files (what is not additionally encrypted):
Photos and exported files (including PDFs) are stored on your device without additional file-level encryption by the App.

There is no account, no cloud sync, and no backup or recovery service provided by us. This means:

  • If your device is lost, stolen, damaged, or reset, your SaveMyTools data may be lost and cannot be recovered by us.
  • If you uninstall the App, the App’s data stored on that device may be deleted and cannot be restored by us.
  • We recommend exporting PDFs regularly if you want an external copy of your records.

You are responsible for safeguarding your device and maintaining any backups of exported files you choose to keep.


3. OCR Serial Number Scanning

The App includes an on-device text recognition feature to help read serial numbers from photos. This is a convenience tool and may produce inaccurate results. You must verify scanned serial numbers and other recognised text before relying on them for insurance or any other purpose.


4. Insurance Policy Features

The App allows you to record details about your insurance policy, including insurer name, policy conditions, overnight storage restrictions, and evidence requirements. The App may reference a list of common UK insurers for convenience.

The App does not verify, validate, interpret, or provide advice about your insurance policy. It is your responsibility to ensure the information you enter is accurate and that you comply with your policy terms. The App has no relationship with any insurer unless explicitly stated.


5. Overnight Storage Logging

The App can remind you to log where tools are stored overnight and whether tools have been removed from a vehicle. Logs are stored locally on your device. The App does not verify the accuracy of your logs.


6. Theft Reporting

You can mark tools as stolen within the App and record relevant notes (such as date stolen). This is for your own record keeping. The App does not report thefts to any authority or insurer on your behalf. You must report theft to the police and your insurer directly if required.


7. SaveMyTools Pro (One-Time Purchase)

The App offers a free tier limited to 7 tools. A one-time purchase (“Pro”) unlocks additional features, which may include:

  • Unlimited tools
  • Bulk evidence pack export
  • Replacement cost estimates
  • Storage log export

The features included in Pro are shown in the App at the time of purchase.

Purchase and payment

Pro is a one-time digital feature unlock (not a subscription). Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store (as applicable). We do not receive or store your payment details.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by the platform through which you purchased (Google Play or Apple App Store) in accordance with their refund policies.

Purchase verification

Pro access requires successful purchase verification. If verification cannot be completed (for example due to connectivity issues or platform availability), Pro features may be temporarily unavailable until verification succeeds. We may apply a short grace period to reduce disruption from temporary issues.

If you believe Pro access has been incorrectly removed, please contact us and/or use any “Restore purchases” option provided in the App.


8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the App to:

  • Create false, misleading, or fraudulent records for the purpose of making dishonest insurance claims
  • Upload/store content you do not have the right to use (including receipts/photos belonging to others without permission)
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App’s source code except where permitted by law
  • Circumvent or interfere with security, access-control, or purchase verification features

9. Permissions

The App may request device permissions, for example:

  • Camera — to photograph tools, serial plates, receipts, and markings
  • Photos / Media access — to select and import images from your device
  • Biometric / device authentication — optional app lock for security (if enabled)
  • Notifications — reminders (for example, overnight storage reminders)

You can revoke permissions at any time through your device settings. Some features may not function without the relevant permission.


10. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including (without limitation) fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy of OCR output.
  • We are not liable for loss of data resulting from device loss, theft, damage, reset, user error, or App uninstallation.
  • We are not liable for the outcome of any insurance claim, whether or not the App was used to prepare documentation for that claim.

To the extent we are found liable to you for any claim arising from use of the App, our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the App (including any in-app purchase) in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, unless a higher amount is required by law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.


11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be made available within the App and/or on our website. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.


12. Changes to the App

We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the App at any time. We will aim to maintain compatibility with existing data, but cannot guarantee compatibility across all devices, operating system versions, or future updates.


13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App, unless mandatory local law requires otherwise.
